The Ship Comes to Life and is Officially Dedicated to Service in the United States Navy.
Events for Commissioning
The “Chairman’s Reception” (sometimes called the “Commissioning Committee Reception”)
Hosted by the committee and held Wednesday evening prior to the ceremony.
The “Platform Briefing and Distinguished Guests Assembly”
(DV Breakfast) hosted Saturday morning prior to the ceremony.
“Commanding Officer’s Reception”. Hosted by the committee and held aboard the ship on Friday evening of commissioning week. Guests are typically the committee, Ship’s Officers, and Chief Petty Officer’s Mess.
“Crew Picnic”. Hosted by the committee and held prior to commissioning. Guests are typically the committee and members of the crew and their families.
